How to COOK Quinoa ( kinwa)

Quinoa is the common name for Chenopodium quinoa, a flowering plant in the amaranth family Amaranthaceae. It is a herbaceous annual plant grown as a grain crop primarily for its edible seeds. Quinoa is generally agreed to be an ancient grain, that is, it is cultivated the same way now that is was millennia ago.

Quinoa is very easy to cook takes 10 – 15 mins

Basic cooking instructions

  • 1 cup of Quinoa
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/4 tsp. Sea Salt
  • 1/2 small onion
  • little bit of oil ( avocado, sesame, grapeseed oil etc)

TurnĀ  fire to med/low under a pot used for rice , add some onions ,let it sautee for a min or two or till it starts to turn golden brown.

Add 2 cups of water and sea salt ,stir and turn heat up a little and let water boil.

Add Quinoa , low fire down to low to simmer with cover on pot for about 15mins.

You’ll know its done when all of the grains have turned translucent & the spiral like germ becomes visible. ENJOY
